Coronavirus is causing so many people anxiety with keeping things cleaned and sanitized. SERVPRO of Metrocrest has several steps to keep your home and office clean, sanitized, and disinfected.

SERVPRO of Metrocrest uses multiple steps to disinfect areas. We use environmental controls such as hydroxyl generators and air scrubbers to clean and sanitize the air.

Our Technicians wear goggles, rubber gloves, rubber boots, N-19 masks, and Tyvek suits to protect against airborne viruses and any chemicals that may potentially come into contact with their body and cause irritation.

After SERVPRO of Metrocrest cleans the infected area, sanitizing is the next step. We use an ultra-low volume fogger and an EPA-regulated, hospital-grade disinfectant. These two together creates a fine and even mist to cover any area.

Signs that it is time for an air duct cleaning

7/17/2019 (Permalink)

Is it time to get your air duct cleaned?

The air duct system is an important system of the house because it is responsible for air circulation and distributing the heating and cooling throughout the house.  Like most household systems, air ducts need to be cleaned and maintained every now and then to ensure that it continues to function properly and efficiently.  Air ducts do not need to be cleaned as often as other areas of the home, but it is beneficial for homeowners to be aware of when they need to be cleaned.  The following are common signs that it is time to get your air ducts professionally cleaned.

Mold or Mildew

If you notice mold or mildew growing anywhere in your home or within the air duct system, it is a good idea to have the air ducts cleaned.  Mold produces spores that spread to other areas by traveling through the air and they can very easily end up within the air duct system where they can get distributed throughout the house or cause mold to grow within the ducts.  Having your air ducts cleaned after eliminating a mold problem will help ensure that the mold growth does not reoccur.

Health and Respiratory Problems

Over time, dirt, dust, and other debris accumulate within the air ducts and end up getting distributed back into the breathing air of the home when the heat or air conditioner kicks on.

Excess Dust and Debris from the Registers

The accumulated dust and debris within an air duct system can reach up to almost 40 pounds on average over the course of one year and this excess dust might gather around the vents or be released back into the breathing air.  If you notice excessive dust build up in the vents and registers, it may be beneficial to have the air ducts cleaned.

Reduced Efficiency

As the dirt and debris builds up in the air ducts, it contaminates the component parts and slows the air flow, forcing the system to work harder to circulate air.  This not only decreases the energy efficiency of the system leading to higher bills, but also increases the risk of breaking down.  If you notice that the heating or cooling is turning on more than normal or that your energy bills have increased, it may be necessary to have your air ducts cleaned.

It is easy for homeowners to forget about their air ducts, but it is important to look out for these signs to make sure you have your air ducts professionally cleaned when it is needed.  Professional air duct cleaning can improve the indoor air quality of your home and the energy efficiency of the HVAC system.

Contact SERVPRO of Metrocrest (972) 233-8400 to have the air ducts in your home or commercial building professionally cleaned.

This annual ritual will restore and renovate the appearance of your home, but there is another even more important reason for performing these tasks - your family's health.

How to React to a Sewage Backup in Dallas, Texas

8/14/2018 (Permalink)

Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest to help with your Sewage backup (972) 233-8400 https://www.SERVPROmetrocrest.com/sewage-cleanup

Most people don’t give sewage much thought, but that all changes the moment it ends up on the floors of their homes. The problem could stem from a flooded toilet or even result from a full-blown sewer backup, but in any case, immediate action is necessary. Contaminated water is a risk to any property in the Dallas, Tx area and although there are steps you can take to mitigate damage, it’s often best to leave sewer cleanup to a professional restoration team like SERVPRO of Metrocrest. Here’s what you should know if you run into this type of home catastrophe.

The Do's and Don’ts

Walking into a room and finding a shallow pool of dirty water is enough to give anyone pause, but it’s crucial to take swift action to keep everyone safe. Before you call for reinforcements, consider these first steps:

• Do remove people and pets from affected areas and keep the areas clear of traffic.
• Do open windows to vent out fumes and circulate fresh air.
• Do outfit yourself with protective garments if possible, including rubber gloves and boots as well as eye and face protection.

It’s also beneficial to avoid these knee-jerk reactions when sewer cleanup becomes necessary:

• Don’t remain in the home or use appliances if the water has reached wall outlets or other electrical sources, as this is a major fire risk.
• Don’t utilize harsh chemical-based solutions to eliminate clogs, before or after flooding occurs.
• Don’t use running water in your home or attempt to flush toilets, which can make problems worse.

Make the Right Call

Unless you’re extremely confident in your capabilities, it’s smart to consult professionals when sewer cleanup is required. A sewer backup or badly flooded toilet introduces harmful microbes to the environment and can cause illness and lasting property damage if the right sanitization methods are not employed. If you’re a homeowner in the Dallas, Texas area, keep a qualified recovery team among your contacts for assured peace of mind.

Area Rug Cleaning

6/11/2018 (Permalink)

Home and business owners typically think about the cleanliness of the carpets in their home or office. But area rugs and commercial walk-off mats are often overlooked. Ironically, the rugs and mats usually get more foot traffic than the carpets and can develop a build-up of deeply-compacted soil. It is important to get them cleaned regularly, to prolong their life.  This is especially true of commercial walk-off mats. They are designed to capture outdoor soils from your footwear, so it is not tracked into the building. Cleaning these mats removes the buildup of soiling, so they can be more efficient in keeping the dirt out of your business.

Soil protectant is a great add-on service after rug and mat cleaning. It will make them more resistant to permanent staining when an accidental spill or spot happens. Soil protectant can also prevent ordinary soils from strongly binding to the rug or mat fibers, making them more responsive to cleaning. It’s a wonderful way to protect your investment!

Whether it’s a sturdy commercial mat, or a delicate oriental rug, the professionals at SERVPRO of Metrocrest have the tools and training to keep them looking their best.

Call SERVPRO of Metrocrest today to schedule your rug/mat cleaning (972) 233-8400.
